CHAPTER TWO-HISTORY REPEATS, PART I Emily was twelve, and Carrie would soon be seven when Emily's mother began to get sick. She had the same sickness as Nanny did. Emily wasn't worried at all, though. Her mother was the strongest person she ever knew. Emily just knew her mother would be well again soon. And for a while, she was. Emily's mother got better and even her hair grew again, too. Emily's mother was up and walking, and was a very happy person. But then she got sick again. Her mother began to get very weak again.  Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Emily. She was a very happy little girl. She lived in a cozy little cottage on what was to Emily, a large stretch of land. Emily's yard was very open, with lots of space for her to run around in, with her mother's flowers growing around near the cottage. She lived with her mother, and her father, and her only little sister, named Carrie. Emily even had her own room! They were a happy little family, and always had what they needed. Their home was always full of love. Emily and Carrie also had a grandmother who lived very close by, and also gave the girls lots of love. They called her Nann
